Who we are

We are a Christian based family owned and operated small business that has always been from the area. Born and raised into the firearm world we have the knowledge and experience to make your firearm needs and dreams a reality.

Officially started in 1977 By Milan Hart in Albert Lea, MN the legacy continues today with three generations of Harts work for your second amendment rights and needs.

Milan worked as a machinist until 1998 while him and his wife Elaine also ran the gun shop. In 1989 Milan and Elaine moved to a bigger location in Albert Lea.  The shop at this location grew a few times as well, it moved from a double stall garage to a portion of the house that was added on to support the size of the gun shop in 1991.  In 1999 the shop again doubled in showroom size with the final addition to their house.  The good news is since the House was now WAY to big it gave Milan an excuse to have a trophy room.

Milan and Elaine retired-ish in 2015-ish, neither one of them know how to sit still.

The Iowa shop started in 2010 by Kemlin and Amy Hart out of a quonset building on the north side of Mason City. They expanded the shop after being in business for around 8 months.  Help was hired and the growth continued.

In 2012 the shop bought a building on the south side of Mason City over doubling its size.

Again in 2015 we expanded to our current location at 613 South Federal Ave. increasing our space 250% again.

In 2024 Hart Brothers of Mason City purchased MR Guns in Waterloo.  The name was immediately changed to Hart Bros 2.  The newest addition to the Hart Bros businesses has a 16 lane indoor range for year round comfortable shooting.
